What a scan captures
A terrestrial laser scanner records every visible surface in a space as a dense field of measured 3D points. Point accuracy runs 2–6mm at typical interior scan distances, so your team works from measurements rather than old record drawings or field notes.
The scanner records what it can see. It does not see through finished ceilings or walls. When ceilings are already open during demo, we can capture exposed structure and systems before they are covered back up.
What you receive
- A Revit file with the point cloud optimized and laid out, ready to use
- The point cloud in .rcp and .e57 formats, with other formats available on request
- An engineering-grade registration report documenting the accuracy of the cloud
- A 360° photo walkthrough, included with every scan
How it works
We scan the full space in one visit and capture the 360° walkthrough at the same time. If the building is occupied, we work around your operations.
Back in the office, we align the scans into a single registered point cloud and document its accuracy. You can stop there, or we can build a Revit model from the point cloud.
Where it fits
Most of our scanning supports tenant improvements, interior renovations, healthcare and commercial interiors, additions, and adaptive reuse. We also scan active healthcare facilities. When a project needs rooftops, facades, or site context from above, we are FAA Part 107 certified for drone capture.
Where we work
We are based in Jacksonville, Florida, and regularly take projects in Gainesville, South Florida, and across Georgia. For the right project, the scanner travels.
How long does a scan take?
Most projects take hours on site, not days. The time depends on the size and complexity of the space.
Can you scan an occupied building?
Yes. Occupied buildings are a regular part of our work, and we schedule the scan around your operations.
Can a scan capture what is above the ceiling or inside walls?
No. Scanning captures visible surfaces only. Anything hidden stays hidden unless the ceiling or wall is already open.
Do I need a Revit model?
No. Point-cloud-only delivery is always an option. Our guide to as-built drawings vs. BIM models explains how to choose a deliverable.
